Dear Sean Chairde & Captain Alan,

It gives me great pleasure to be the Captain of our legendary team, in what is a huge year for the SC, being the 20th. It speaks volumes for the event & to my fellow SC's members that we are still going stronger than ever after all these years.

I would like to welcome Alan Vard and his VC John Connell to this year's event. Two very strong competitors, who I'm sure do not want title of "back to back losers"!

I would like to thank last year's captains Richie "The Intimidator" Glavin & Shane "Tigger" O'Reilly for a fantastic event. Richie for his calmness & excellent picks (always making sure he himself was never going to get Norway!) & Shane for getting those numbers on the caps. A ballsy move which completely backfired on the lad!

I am delighted that Rob "The Points Collector" Husssssssey is my VC – having watched him punch the heads of lads playing football for many years to hitting putters out of bunkers (yeeeeee the bunker monkey) I knew he was the only man to assist me & his guidance & experience in this event will be invaluable.

The committee have once again done a fantastic job in securing an excellent venue this year in Fota Island, and I know I speak for everyone in saying a Big Thanks as always for your continued work.

Just a note re the event itself:

I'm delighted to say we have booked FOTA Island for the 20th year. The format is slightly different this year as we will be playing 4 rounds over 4 days starting on Wednesday 4th, playing the 5th, 6th & 7th. Leaving in the 8th. Everyone will need to be there by 11.00 am on the 4th. Included is 4 nights B&B, 4 rounds of golf, 4 dinners and the usual extras. We may play a 5th round on the Friday for some warriors yet to be decided though. All rooms are single with 2 options, 1 Room En-suite, 2 single rooms with 1 shared bathroom. The cost for the single room with shared bathroom is €795 & the cost for the single en-suite room is €895. We have 5 en-suite rooms per team. Looking forward to the battle ahead in FOTA. Any issues if you can come back to Shane, Visa, Shay or Rob.

Thanks Barry and I'm looking forward to doing battle again this September.

Last year's event in Knightsbrook was a huge success and closely-fought contest. Indeed, over the last number outings, very little separates the winning and losing sides, with the standard of golf heightened year on year.

I am grateful and excited by the opportunity to Captain our team on the 20th anniversary of this phenomenal event in Fota Island, another distinguished championship course, which will offer the perfect backdrop to what should be another thrilling encounter this September.

This year, I am very fortunate to have alongside me VC John Connell and would like to wish the opposing Captain Barry Maher and his VC Robert Hussy the best of luck for the contest ahead.
